Since pure electric vehicles use pure electric drive systems, it is necessary to convert the high-voltage DC above 400V provided by the high-voltage DC battery into low-voltage DC below 12V to supply various auxiliary equipment, such as lighting, air conditioning, audio, etc. At the same time, at low temperatures or during charging and discharging, the high-voltage DC battery cannot stably output 12V low-voltage DC. At this time, a DC-DC converter is needed for power regulation and voltage stabilization. So it can be said that in pure electric vehicles, the DC-DC converter is a crucial component.

 

It is also widely used in hybrid vehicles. Hybrid vehicles use a dual power system of an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The internal combustion engine can charge the high-voltage DC battery through a generator. When the car is in pure electric mode, the DC-DC converter plays a role similar to that in pure electric cars, converting the high-voltage DC battery into low-voltage DC to supply to various auxiliary equipment. When the car is in hybrid mode, the DC-DC converter converts the high-voltage alternating current output from the engine into low-voltage direct current and supplies it to the auxiliary equipment.

 

In addition, in fuel cell vehicles, a DC-DC converter is also needed to stabilize and regulate the DC power output by the high-voltage fuel cell and convert it into low-voltage DC to supply to auxiliary equipment.
